The first sight of the sun’s presence in the sky – sunrise -- feels like a miracle, and I am grateful for this unfoldment: each day I can count on the repetition of this beauty in the morning ‘…like the first morning…’ (Y. Islam). As I rush from one task to another, I almost always take this ‘sight’ for granted, or forget completely that our beloved earth rotates on a 23.4 degree tilt, turning in an orderly fashion along with the other planets of this solar system!

I realize that I am taken care of by our Creator, and am very grateful to be designed so well. When I visualize the planets in their place in space, I want to compare this to the inside of the human body, where, we through our unconscious mind, regulate autonomous processes like respiration, blood transport, digestion… When we are in good health, all is quiet and orderly. Our immune system is set up like the moat around the castle: protecting us from trespassers like viruses and bacteria, even, for 85% of us, cancer (Bruce Lipton Ph.D., “The Biology of Belief” 2005, Mountain of Love/Elite).

The scale of alkaline--acidity, pH balance, has a range of 0--14; we want to be 7 or lower (showing alkalinity; I am told that cancer does not thrive in an alkaline body) on this striking measure of overall health. Our internal, saline water resonates the body’s physical condition, informing us of our progress.

So too, being in the here and now is a good measure of spiritual and psychological health! When I take the time to find this frequency, I realize that I have so much to be grateful for: those family and friends who love and support me, the gifts Creator has given me, my own health, my cherished work, the peace I see coming to us, slow but sure, on earth. I am also grateful for my morning coffee or chai tea with cinnamon…the month of June…

As I write this, I am present. Right here, right now, I appreciate the awesome order and the beauty of my surroundings. I notice that a building located just across from my living room window is now complete; scaffolding has been removed so that I now feel the promise of new neighbors. Yay! (For 5 or so years, this structure has been under construction.) As I continue to focus I hear birds chirping, an airplane overhead, chatter of passersby.

It is 9:00 a.m. on June 20th-- a glorious summer morning. I missed the sunrise at 5:25 a.m. (in Brooklyn). Sunset is scheduled for 8:29 p.m. Whoa! I remember it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere – the Solstice…where we receive more sunlight. Happy Solstice everyone!

John Zabat Zinn reveals: all that comes before us is a teacher if we view it in the present moment. This morning coaches me on the beauty, wonder and peace of the natural order of existence, whether it’s in our body or in the solar system. Let’s share a cup of morning beverage as we contemplate and celebrate this wavelength…….

Speak to you on July 7th.
